DISNEY MEET-CUTES ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO MAGICAL
**blogs.disney.com
Sometimes you’re just making a wish into a well and BAM, true love. Other times, you’re sneaking into a tower and DOUBLE BAM, you meet the business end of a frying pan. But in the world of Disney Animated Classics, all roads lead to love. Let’s take a look at some of the memorable Disney meet-cutes.
Ariel and Prince Eric
Totally turning the “damsel in distress” trope on its head, ARIEL is the one who comes to Eric’s rescue in their first meeting. This wasn’t exactly a coincidence though; she was already pretty smitten when she happened to notice he needed saving. Still, we give their meet-cute a solid 8 for all of Ariel’s effort.
Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Another fairly untraditional meeting, Rapunzel and Flynn are first introduced by their mutual friend, the frying pan. She’s already wary of strangers because of Mother Gothel, he’s on the run from the law; how could they NOT end up happily ever after? This meet-cute earns a 7, mostly because it’s so hilarious.
Snow White and Prince Charming
This meet-cute is a true testament to the power of positive thinking. Snow White literally JUST wished for her true love to show up… and then he did. She was still at the wishing well–she hadn’t even walked away yet. There’s no way to explain this other than magic, so this iconic meet-cute earns a perfect 10.
Belle and Beast
This was one very unlikely meeting, so unlikely that Mrs. Potts sings a song about how these two were “barely even friends.” However, that song is called “Tale as Old as Time” for a reason: though these two didn’t start out on the best terms (you know, the part where Beast captured her father and all), love sneaked up on them anyway. We’ll call their meet-cute less magical, maybe a 5, but we all know how “happily ever after” their story ends up.
Jasmine and Aladdin
Jasmine was pretty lucky to have Aladdin come to her rescue on the streets of Agrabah. Aladdin was also lucky to have a good reason to go up to the pretty-eyed girl at the marketplace to, ya know, save her from getting in big trouble for stealing an apple. Hijinks ensue, allowing Aladdin to show off his “street rat” skills to impress the Princess in disguise. The whole thing was pretty magical, we’ll say a solid 7 out of 10.
Aurora and Prince Phillip
This must have been a weird one for Prince Phillip. He was riding through the woods with his pal horse, when suddenly he sees a beautiful girl dancing and singing with a group of woodland creatures who have systematically arranged themselves into a human form dressed in HIS boots, cap, and cape. Luckily, Phillip is a bit of a romantic and decides to cut in with Briar Rose, AKA Princess Aurora who he is already betrothed to. Pretty magical, 9/10.
